Windows XP Service Pack 3 Compatibility was added to the beta release and the final release to address problems with compatibility reporting when Windows XP SP3 is installed on Windows 2000 Server.
Not only does the new release address issues that can occur when Windows XP SP3 is Installed on Windows 2000 Server. It also does this in cases where Windows XP SP3 is installed on a Windows Server 2003 device that uses Windows XP SP2 as the underlying operating system. This provides an easy upgrade path for 100% Windows XP SP2 covered operating systems upgraded to Windows XP SP3 to have very similar compatibility issues as operating systems upgraded that are covered by Windows XP SP3.
The Compatibility Evaluator now no longer checks that log files are created on the initial system boot. This reduces the time for boot up to 45 seconds and allows someone to run a Compatibility Checker and use the output files to diagnose major issues in their system.
The known issues section of the website will be moved to this web page. FAQs will be added to the website for common questions/issues with running tests when Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 is installed.
The Known Issues section will now list known problems with this Windows 7 operating system as well as known problems with Windows XP SP2 or Windows Server 2003 systems that need to be upgraded to Windows 7. d2c66b5586
